Pilastro était un atelier de mobilier à Amsterdam sous la direction artistique de Tjerk Reijenga. Pendant le début des années 1950 aux Pays Bas Pilastro était le précurseur du mobilier modulaire en métal perforé, plié en peint, avec beaucoup d’accesoires fonctionnels.
Malgré son succes au début, c’était un autre fabricant “Tomado” qui remportait la victoire dans les années 1960 avec une variation plus simple et moins chère.
ENGLISH Pilastro was a workhouse in Amsterdam under the artistic direction of Tjerk Reijenga. They produced the first furniture pieces at the beginning of the 1950's in bent metal, perforated and painted in modest but playfull colors, with a lot of functional options.
Despite of its succes at this early period, it was another manufacturer Tomado that turned this idea in to a commercial succes in the 1960's with a much simpler and less expensive version.
